The tenure of the state government ends on 24th of May 2021 is a known fact.

On Friday, the school education minister Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan spoke about how whether the decision to conduct the board examinations or not for the school students before the Assembly polls would be taken after consultations with the CM of Tamil Nadu, Mr. E. Palaniswamy.

Yesterday, the school education minister was busy inaugurating ‘Amma’ mini-clinic in Gobichettipalayam in Erode. He spoke about how due to the lockdown to control the spread of Coronavirus pandemic all the students were declared passed. Point is that at present, the situation has changed.

The minister was replying to the question about how the students would be promoted as both quarterly as well as half yearly examinations were not held. It must be taken into account that the marks obtained in these 2 examinations were considered as the qualifying criteria in the last academic year.

Promotion criteria for the students:
In this academic year, both the quarterly and half yearly exams were cancelled. This has led to an unusual situation and there is no clarity on what basis the students would be promoted if the board examinations too get cancelled.

It is now brought out that the TN government is yet to take a stand either on conducting or cancelling the board examinations. This was due to the threat of new mutant strain.

Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan concluded that the private schools could conduct the examinations online if needed but it was not compulsory.
