As priority has been given to the corona vaccination in progress, the earlier announced the schedule of administration of poi drops for the children on Sunday (17th January) has been postponed. It is announced that the revised dates will be announced shortly.
With the main objective of eradicating polio attack on children in India, all children under 5 years of age are administered with polio drops twice a year in January & March in the state of Tami Nadu from the year 1994.
With the untiring efforts of the Central & the State Governments, India has become one of the countries where polio has been eradicated. With this development/success, the system of administration of polio drops for all children under 5 years of age has now been reduced from twice a year to just once a year.
In this scenario, the central Government had announced earlier that the administration of polio drops for all children below 5 years of age for this year 2021 is scheduled from 17th January to 19th January. However, as the corona vaccination is also scheduled to start today (Saturday, 16th January) throughout the country, the polio drops administration camp for children has been postponed.
