In Chennai, after 10 months, ZERO COVID deaths reported

Coronavirus pandemic has been causing a number of deaths all over the world is well known to us. Many people belonging to Chennai and in TN have lost their lives to this deadly virus.

The news that has emerged now is that after 10 months, the city of Chennai had reported zero deaths due to Covid-19 infection. This has brought huge relief on the faces of many now.

The number of persons affected with Covid-19 infection has reached 834,740 in TN with as many as 569 persons testing positive yesterday. On 25th March 2020, the district of Chennai had reported first ever death due to this infection. Till now Chennai reported as many as 4085 deaths and this is almost 33percent of the total number of deaths in TN due to Covid-19 (12316). Over the past 3 months, TN had maintained a fatality rate of 1.5percent and as many as 7 persons lost their lives yesterday. These 7 persons were above 68 years of age and they had co-morbid conditions like diabetes BP etc in them.

In the 4th week of January month, TN active cases hovered around 0.6percent mark and currently 4904 persons are undergoing treatment for Coronavirus infection. Truth is that on the same day in the last month of December twice the number of persons undergoing treatment for Coronavirus.

In Chennai, the number of active cases was 1696 and in Coimbatore the number of active cases was 478. There were 168 new or fresh Coronavirus cases on Sunday in the Chennai district alone.
