With gradual relaxations being announced after each subsequent reviews of the coronavirus pandemic status reviews, the 1st Full Moon Day of the New Year 2021 is set to occur tomorrow (Thursday, 28th January) commencing early morning 2.00 AM and conclude at 2.00 AM on Friday (29th January|).
The devotees were quite eagerly expectant that the ban on undertaking ‘Girivalam’ (undertaking a fu-round journey on the bottom of the mountain Thiruvannamalai and then praying the Lord Arunachaleswarar) will be withdrawn and they would be permitted to undertake |Girivalam on the New Year!
However, as a new version of coronavirus is on the spread, as a measure to prevent its spread, Thiruvannamalai District Collector Sandeep Nandhuri has banned the undertaking Girivalam on this occasion. The collector has also appealed to the devotees not to undertake Girivalam.
Actually, this is the 10th continuous month with the ban on undertaking Girivalam.
As such, the devotees and the patrons of the religious associations have appealed that this ban is really causing huge distress for the devotees and the ban must be withdrawn immediately!
