The TN state government has been thinking about conducting regular annual examinations for the students belonging to the classes 9 and 11. It is well known that from 8th February TN schools would reopen classes 9 and 11. For the classes 10 and 12, the school education department has already decided to conduct board examinations. The classes for 10 and 12 have been going on now.

The students belonging to classes 9 and 11 would be appearing for the high school and higher secondary school leaving examinations in the next year. For that, the students must have adequate credentials to get promoted. It is now said that the authorities have been discussing with the health experts and academicians regarding ways to organize board exams for these students because more than 90% of students would be attending classes from 8th February. This was as per a senior officer belonging to the school education department.

The senior officer later spoke about the reduced syllabus that has been released for both the classes with the help from SCERT. Information is that question papers would be set based on the reduced syllabus. The management of both government as well as private schools have been asked to prepare a list of students who would appear for the annual examinations.

There would be internal annual exams for the students of class 9 in their respective schools and class 11 students would have board exams. The senior officer assured that there would not be any examination schedule clash of class 9 and 11 with class 10 and class 12. The students would get model question papers plus question banks. These would help the students to prepare well for the exams. Detailed recommendations on board exam preparations would be sent by the authorities following SOP’s. The TN government would take a final call.
