The Central Government has ordered that all its employees must start attending regular duty. The Central Ministry of Labour has released this order.
Lockdown was imposed throughout the country by the central & state governments as a preventive measure against the raging coronavirus for a long period right from March 2020. With the stringent preventive measures taken and the subsequent gradual reduction in the coronavirus pandemic spread, though the lockdown imposition is continued, several relaxations have been announced with each subsequent phase pf the lockdown extended. As such, the central government ordered 50% of the employees under the rank below Assistant Secretaries to attend duty on a rotational basis and the others can attend work from home (WFH).
In this scenario and the gradual reduction in the spread/extent of the coronavirus pandemic, the central government has gone ahead to order all its employees to resume attending office duty.
A notification released by the Central Ministry of Labour and employee welfare in this regard mentions:
“All employees must resume attending regular duty on the weekdays/ working days. However, the employees residing in the containment zones need not attend office. Until these containment zones are declared as safe and free from virus infection, these employees can continue Working From Home (WFH).
The system of biometric attendance recording has been suspended temporarily.
This will continue until the next order in this regard is announced.”
