New: Prospects for Metro Track Work commencing soon on the route Light House-Kodambakkam-T Nagar!

On the proposed track linking Light House-Poonamallee, the 1st Phase of this project is likely to be taken up and commence the track-laying work shortly in the section link from Light House to Kodambakkam, covering a distance of 9,95 km.
The Chennai Metro Rail Senior officials shared this information explaining that construction activities are likely to start soon in the areas of Theagaraya Nagar, Kodambakkam, and Mylapore.
Out of the above distance of 9.95 track-laying projects, double-track will be laid underground for a distance of 5.15 km
In this distance, 4 Railway Stations are to come up. Further, for a distance of 4.8 km of elevated track, there would be 5 Metro Stations making up for a total of 9 stations in the 1st Phase of the project.
2 tenders have been floated for finalizing the contract early and completing the project. To facilitate completing the project as per schedule, the work has been sectionalized and given to different contractors.
In this phase of the project, there are strong prospects for the project wo4rks to commence in the sections of Theagaraya Nagar, Kodambakkam, and Mylapore.
As underground tracks and stations are to be set up in the areas of heavy popular traffic, the normal traffic during the project can continue without any hindrance due to this project construction activity in progress.
The section between Kodambakkam and Poonamallee will be on an elevated track. The senior officials of Chennai Metro Rail informed that constructions work is scheduled to start shortly!
