Chennai residents can clear their queries by just texting Hi to the WhatsApp number of GCC

The residents of Chennai would be able to clear their queries now easily!! It is well known that GCC has been doing several superb things and this latest one has caught the attention of many now.  

On Friday, GCC launched a WhatsApp helpline communication for this purpose. The number is 94999 33644. By sending just ‘Hi’ to this WhatsApp number of the Chennai city corporation, the residents would be able to raise concerns and get solutions.

Deputy Commissioner of Chennai corporation, Mr. Meganath Reddy mentioned that the WhatsApp number was available n English and in Tamil. He added that on texting just ‘Hi’ to the above number the account would ask for language preference and depending on the query options are available.

Various options included are important help lines, complaint through WhatsApp, complaint status, TN Assembly elections 2021, online services birth/death certificates, property tax payment, trade license renewal etc. It must be noted that on selecting an option the users are directed to a person or to the link where related information is available. The public would be benefited by this irrespective of whether they know how to use Whatsapp or to surf on the web etc.

Point is that for reporting and for problem addressing this new number would be superb and it is said that the account would also pave way for the information flow on various announcements, updates etc. The critical information regarding the roll out of vaccines etc would be provided by this account.  It is true that by the ubiquitous nature of Whatsapp exchanging information with ten citizens has become very easy and fast.

For the sake of serving the citizens more efficiently, many such initiatives from GCC would be available in the future also. This was as per Mr. G. Prakash, corporation commissioner. He later thanked WhatsApp for their help in activating this innovative public centric service.
