According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nungambakkam, June will be cooler than May but the lowest temperature will not be below 29 degrees Celsius. Monday was the hottest day in the month so far with a temperature of 39.2 degrees Celsius.
‘The days would remain hot and sultry for longer hours, as the lowest temperature hovers around 29 degree Celsius. Last year, the highest temperature was recorded on June 3 with a maximum of 42.4 degree Celsius… The sea breeze onset was around 4.55pm today (Monday). The temperature will drop if the sea breeze sets in early… There are days when the sea breeze is here at 10.30am. Such days remain pleasant. During the first week of June, the sea breeze set in around noon. But, for the past one week the onset has been varying’, said an RMC official.
