It is well known that the preparations have been going on now for the class12 board examinations that would be held from 3rd May to 21st May 2021 in TN.
At this point of time, the comments from deputy CM of TN Mr. O. Paneerselvam and school education minister Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan has totally confused many students and teachers.
During the poll campaign last week in Theni, Mr. Paneerselvam spoke about how TN government has been considering all passes even for class12 students. This has grabbed many eyeballs.
On Wednesday, Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan in his poll campaign at Gobi mentioned that TN government has got a secret plan for the students of class 12. The school education department received a large number of enquiries from many students, parents and teachers after Mr. Paneerselvam’s statement. This was pointed out by a senior officer of this department.
Unless the TN government makes any unexpected change (that is unlikely), board exams would be held as per the schedule. This was as per the senior official. He explained that the comments from Mr. Sengottaiyan about a ‘secret plan’ have created huge confusion in the minds of parents and teachers now. The teachers belonging to the schools in TN have urged the department to clarify the matter formally.
According to Mr. P.K. Illamaran, president, TN Teachers Association, it was clear that the students of class 12 have been attending the classes amid fear of Coronavirus infection. He added that the comments from the senior ministers would only increase the anxiety of parents and students etc.
He concluded that the TN government must come out with an official statement to clear the confusion or doubts in the minds of students, parents and teachers etc regarding the plus 2 board examinations.
General Secretary, State Platform for Common School System, Mr. Prince Gajendrababu was of the view that there must be transparency in the decision making process on such issues. He threw light on how sudden and shocking statements would only increase the stress among the students. He concluded that all passes must not be used to make school education useless.
