Shocking news!! Now, Chennais positivity rate is twice that of entire Tamil Nadu

The important piece of information is that the positivity rate of Chennai is now 18% and it is almost twice that of the entire TN of 9.7%.The number of active cases went above the 24000 mark on 5th July 2020 and on 19th April 2021 it has crossed 25000.
The doubling time period in Chennai stood at 8 days and this was as per city based Covid data analyst Mr. Vijayanand. He added that if the present trend continues then there would be 50000 cases in a week. The doubling time for TN was 9 days and at this rate the cases would touch one lakhs in another 6 days. It must be taken to note that GCC at present has got more than 1500 cases at various Covid care centres.
The experts were of the view that the numbers in the coming weeks would be very high with many hospitals full of Covid- 19 patients. It was later brought to light by Dr. S. Subramaniam, expert in infectious diseases, the issue is Tamil Nadu has not upgraded the process. He threw light on the protocol that was used in March 2020 that is being used now. It is worthy to note here that previously mostly elders were symptomatic but now after one person in a family test Covid-19 positive then almost all his or her contacts test positive. Now, most of them are young people who test positive.
Trend of oxygen bed occupancy needs to be monitored with the present rise in the cases and this was mentioned by Dr. P. Ganesh Kumar, assistant director, NIE. As per some officials belonging to the Chennai Corporation, it was confirmed that in the current surge more youngsters are getting affected by the infection.
