With the lockdown imposition implemented from 20th April, only 20% of the Omnibus services from Chennai Metro City are being operated!
The State Government of Tamil Nadu, as a preventive measure to check/prevent the raging spread of the resurgent coronavirus pandemic fast and wide, has i9mposed lockdown restrictions from 20th April during nights and Sundays until further government orders.
Subsequently, the bus services during the lockdown periods stand cancelled! As such, the buses to the southern districts are being operated only in the daytime.
As the bus services are allowed only during the daytime, only 20% of the omnibuses are operating in the southern districts of the Tamil Nadu State.
The Omnibus Owners’ Association has informed that instead of the usual 700 omnibuses which operate, only 20% are in operation.
Omnibuses were operated today (Wednesday, 21st April) morning from the Chennai Metro City to Madurai, Thirunelveli, Thenkasi and other districts.
