The Cyclone ‘Tauktae’ which formed over the Arabian Sea caused very heavy and damaging rains in some states such as Gujarat and Kerala!

Subsequently, the cyclone Tauktae crossed the coast day-before-yesterday (Monday, 17th May) between Porbandhar-Magua in Gujarat. Due to this cyclone, there were heavy rains in the coastal districts!

Further, high-speed winds blew at 190 kmph! Several houses/residences were damaged due to the high-speed cyclonic winds!

In this situation, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there are strong prospects for a ‘low-pressure’ zone to be formed over the Bay of Bengal! This depression zone is likely to be formed on 23rd May and is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic format!

Further, as the southwest monsoon rainy season is all set to commence in the State of Tamil Nadu by the end of May, it has been estimated that the prospects of this new cyclonic format to affect Tamil Nadu The state is very less!

IMD has informed that the southwest rainy monsoon season may commence at the coastal areas of South Andaman and the adjacent coastal area on 21st May!
