If you do not have an e-pass or proper documents then it is better not to travel in Chennai or else you could be caught!!

It must be taken into account that the Chennai police department has intensified the checking of vehicles now. The two wheelers as well as motorists who have been roaming around without valid reasons have been caught at various checkpoints in Chennai city.

The employees belonging to private companies would not be allowed to travel on their two wheelers and this was announced on Saturday. The TN government had asked the companies to arrange for the travel of their employees. Yesterday, various roads in Chennai wore a deserted look as just the essential workers were plying on the roads.

Across Chennai city, the police department had set up as many as 218 checkpoints and many bridges and flyovers have been closed. It was later pointed out by a senior police officer that strict instructions have been issued to the subordinates to book cases and seize the vehicles of the violators. It is learnt that only food delivery persons, hotel workers, health workers, NGO volunteers, pharmacists, media persons etc would be allowed to travel in Chennai in this strict total lockdown.

Arumbakkam police station was very busy yesterday as there was a section of violators there arguing with the police personnel. It is now said that few who roamed unnecessarily on the roads without valid reasons were caught and taken to Arumbakkam police station. Point is that the violators were educated about safety measures.
