The new relaxations have come into effect from Monday, 14th of June 2021 onwards in Chennai and TN. Truth is that salons in Chennai did good business with many visiting salons for haircuts whereas the beauty parlours and tea shops did not do well with just few customers.

Recently, the TN government issued certain new guidelines in the relaxations and as per that the salons and beauty parlours must function without air-conditioners. Likewise, customers who visit tea stalls must bring their own containers for carrying parcels etc.

It was later brought out by a owner of a tea shop at Old Washermenpet in Chennai that business was dull as majority of his customers were those who visited the textile shops nearby. The textile shops were not given permission to open and due to that the business was poor in his shop. He hoped that his business would go up in a week or two.

Information is that the Chennai corporation volunteers and police personnel were checking whether the shop was crowded and more than 3 persons waiting were sent back. Shortage of workers was another issue. The beauty parlours in Chennai did not get many customers yesterday. It is learnt that the unused equipment for more than a month was not working properly now.

A beautician belonging to Kilpauk based beauty parlour expressed her thoughts. She spoke about how the regular customers like college students and hostel inmates did not come to her parlour as they were forced to vacate because of total lockdown. She hinted that many now do make-ups and facials on their own and hence do not come to the beauty parlours. Therefore, when the beauty parlours are reopened again now in Chennai many were not excited that much. She concluded that it would take another3 months for her business to pick up.
