The local buses are back in operation in 4 districts in Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu. However, only a lesser number of passengers travelled in the buses as it is yet to pick up.
The Prevailing lockdown imposition has been extended in Tamil Nadu with some more relaxations. Accordingly, in the 4 districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur, the local buses were back in service after a gap of 40 days.
All the buses were washed, cleaned and sprayed with disinfectants and then rendered for service.
As per the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s orders, women were allowed to travel free in buses with a whiteboard. Following the preventive guidelines, only 50% of passengers were allowed in a bus! Thus, the passengers travelled while keeping social distance.
Only a lesser number of buses is plying in service. The officials have informed that the services would be increased in case the public response increases.
As regards the Kanchipuram district, out of the 160 buses kept ready in the workshop, 100 buses have been pressed into service.
Bus services have commenced from Kanchipuram to Chennai Koyambedu, Tambaram, Poonamallee, Sriperumpudhur, Oragadam, Chengalpattu, and Thiruvallur.
