Tamil Nadu State Minister for Higher Education Ponmudi has informed that the admissions to both the public and private sector colleges will commence after 1st August.
The State Minister for Higher Education had a review meeting with the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin this morning (Monday, 28th June) regarding the commencement of admission to colleges.
The Minister had a session with the press reporters after the meeting with the Chief Minister. He shared:
“I gather the information that certain private colleges have commenced admissions! This is wrong! All colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu MUST commence admission only after 1st August!
The mark lists for the students who studied under the CBSE syllabus and the Tamil Nadu State Syllabus will be released before 31st July. So, only after this, the college admission must start from 1st August!
As regards the admissions to engineering colleges, the procedure followed will continue! Concessions for the ‘1st Generation college students’ will continue.
Due to the prevailing crisis of the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic, there is a delay in college admissions. The Act regarding cancellation of NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test for admission to graduate medical courses) will be passed based on the recommendations presented by the Special committee presided by the former Judge Rajan. We have already cancelled the Entrance Examinations to colleges! As such, we will cancel the NEET as well!”
