Tamil Nadu State Minister for School Education Anbil Magesh has informed that THE SCHOOLS WILL REOPEN ONLY AFTER CONSULTING WITH MEDICAL EXPERTS AND THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS.
All schools as well as the other academic institutions in Tamil Nadu have remained closed over the last 1 year and more due to the raging first and the resurgent coronavirus pandemic. As such, all classes are being conducted ONLINE.
Further, it has been announced that the examinations for the 1st to 12th Standards are cancelled and all the students are deemed as passed.
With the recent downward trend in the extent/impact of the resurgent coronavirus spread, various relaxations have been announced for the districts. However, schools and colleges are yet to reopen.
As the medical experts have issued an alert regarding the onset of the 3rd Coronavirus wave in October/November, further issues have come up regarding the reopening of schools.
In the above scenario, the State Minister of Tamil Nadu for School Education had a session with the press reporters after a visit to the Lord Muruga temple at Thiruchendur for a Darshan. He shared:
“There is widespread opinion against NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – a pass is a MUST for pursuing medical graduate courses) among the public! The special committee set up for this review presided by A K Rajan has also informed that more opinions/suggestions are being received AGAINST NEET!
After the current session of the Legislative Assembly concludes, a decision will be taken as per the Chief Minister regarding NEET.
A decision regarding the reopening of schools will be taken only after a detailed review meeting with the medical experts regarding the 3rd Coronavirus wave!”
