Information is gathered from reliable circles that the NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test, a pass in which is mandatory to pursue graduate medical courses), announced as scheduled to be conducted in August, MAY BE POSTPONED. The sources further informed that the National Testing Agency has still not decided on the dates for NEET!
If the prevailing crisis of the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic tends to come down further as per the recent downward trend throughout the country, NEET may be conducted in September!
Earlier, the news had been spread by the social networking media that NEET for the current Academic Year may be conducted on 5th September by the National Testing Agency. This proved to be FALSE! The National Testing Agency promptly announced that the news was totally false!
The senior officials of the National Testing Agency have informed that a thorough consultation-cum-review meeting is being conducted with the senior officials of the National Medical Commission.
Further, information is gathered that this issue will be discussed in detail with the newly appointed Central Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Central Health Minister Mansukh Mandalia and the aspect of providing sufficient time period for the aspiring candidates to apply and prepare for NEET will also be reviewed in depth.
The prevailing condition is that even the tasks pf applying for NEET have not been commenced! As such, there are lots of issues to be resolved in conducting NEET!
It is also learnt that due importance is being given to certain important factors such as the health and safety of the candidates and also the commencement of medical courses at the right time.
Last year, NEET was conducted on 13th September despite the critical prevailing corona crisis and the various protests organised to postpone NEET! Recalling this, the students, in their turn, emphasise that NEET must be conducted as scheduled!
Usually, the date for applying for NEET commences 60 days before the scheduled NEET date. However, as for the current academic year, the task of applications has not been commenced yet! JEE (Joint Entrance Examination for pursuing Engineering Courses) is scheduled to be conducted on 20th July and 2nd August!
The senior officials shared in this regard:
“JEE (Preliminary) will be computer-based. This may be conducted on several days. So, it is rather easier to keep the crowd under check and also forming the centres for the examination.
However, as regards NEET, it is conducted NOT ON A A COMPUTERISED BY BASIS BUT ON QUESTION PAPERS. Over 12 lakhs students are set to write NEET!”
