On Thursday, 22nd July 2021, DGE or Directorate of Government examinations announced that the supplementary examinations for class 12 students would be held from 6th August to 19th August.
It is now said that those students who are not satisfied with the marks calculated could apply from 23rd to 27th July and they would have to do so for all the subjects. The DGE press release has made it clear that these students cannot seek to write about any particular subject.
From 10am to 5:45 pm on all days except Sunday 25th July, applications would be received by the government examination service centres belonging to all the TN districts. It must not be forgotten that after the cancellation of class 12 public exams in TN the results were declared under the system where 50 percent weightage was given to class 10 board exam marks, 20% for class11 board exam marks and 30percent for practical and internal assessment.
Those who failed to apply for the supplementary examinations between 23td to 27th July could apply on 28th July through online at the service centres by paying a special admission fee of Rs 1000.
The candidates applying for the supplementary exams could get to know about the government examinations department service centres plus instructions for individuals writing separate exams etc from the website. Details could also be obtained from the offices belonging to the principal education officers or from the district education officer’s offices or from the offices of all government examinations assistant directors. Few days back, the government of TN mentioned that it would conduct supplementary exams for the aggrieved candidates and private candidates in September or October.
In general, the school students are happy about their marks and there might not be many students who would be interested in the supplementary examinations. A principal belonging to a Chennai based school spoke about how the students have got high marks in the class12 due to the weightage system followed in calculation of marks. He added that two months have passed now and the students would have lost touch in the subjects. He concluded that preparing to write exams in all the subjects within 2 weeks would be impossible.
Seventy seven percent of the class 12 students have scored between 400 and 600 marks out of a total of 8.16lakhs students. It is superb to note that around5% students have got more than 551 out of 600.
