In the month of May, the daily Covid-19 cases were so high and it caused huge concern for many. The TN government has taken superb steps in controlling the spread of the Coronavirus infection. Now, the daily cases have dropped to the lowest ever in Chennai.
On Thursday, the fresh Covid-19 cases reported in Chennai were just 133. It must be noted that on 1st February, the number of fresh Covid-19 cases in Chennai was lowest at 134. Important piece of information is that it (on Thursday) was the lowest number of fresh or new cases reported since the month of May in 2020. In Chennai, as many as137 new cases were reported on 18th July. This was the second lowest number of new cases reported in the second infection wave.
On 7th July, the number of daily fresh cases came down to less than 200 and Chennai had just 196 fresh cases on that day. Just a day before that, Chennai reported 209 fresh cases.
As per an official belonging to GCC it was clear that despite the reduction in the number of daily Coronavirus infection cases the GCC is continuing its containment measures in the Chennai city. The violators are being fined by the enforcement teams now. As many as224 persons were fined for violating Covid norms across Chennai on Thursday and a fine amount of Rs 59000 was collected from them. As on Friday morning, Chennai had as many as1658 active cases. None of the 15 GCC zones reported more than 20 cases on Thursday. A fine amount of Rs 73300 was collected on Wednesday in Chennai city.
It is worth mentioning that GCC had administered more than 29lakhs doses of vaccines including first and second dose. For the sake of workers to get vaccinated at their workplaces itself, GCC has begun special vaccination camps.
