The government has decided to bring strict rules and conditions regarding the waiving of the jewellery loan scheme. The finance minister has previously announced that the jewellery loan would be waived only for certain persons.

It must be noted that the register of cooperative societies has asked employees to collect 37 types of details regarding those who have got jewellery loans. The reason for collection of details was due to the fact that the government was not in a situation to cancel the jewellery loans for all because of the financial crisis it has faced in the Coronavirus pandemic. Point is that the government as well as the cooperative societies must be able to bear the burden due to waiving of jewellery loans and this has been decided previously.

Various details such as name, family card details, Aadhaar card details etc plus important details about whether the person who got loan is a government employee or whether he is a relative of those working in the government/cooperative societies etc were collected by the employees.

The employees have also been collecting details about whether the person who got the jewellery loan has received crop loan waive, weight of the mortgaged jewellery and loan amount etc. It is revealed that the officers belonging to the cooperative societies have been sending these 37 important details to the head office online in separate forms.

Some time back, comments were made regarding issuing an amount of Rs 4000 as Corona relief fund to all. It is now said that those in the government jobs plus those belonging to cooperative societies would not be considered for the waiving of jewellery loan. Information is that those who had already received waiving of crop loan plus those who get higher income have been separated and there are plans to remove them from the beneficiaries list. The cooperative society officers have confirmed that who all would be considered (taking into account various above said conditions) would be announced soon. It is known that a cooperative society is a voluntary association of individuals with common needs joining hands for achieving common economic interest.
