Info from the State Government Department of School Education: 80% attendance on schools reopening!

Tamil Nadu State Government Department of School Education has informed that following the reopening of schools on 1st September after a rather long break of more than 18 months due to the raging first and resurgent coronavirus pandemic, 80% of the students attended schools.

As per the record, the students were constrained not to attend schools as they remained closed due to the prevalent coronavirus pandemic over a period of 18 months! As the 2nd wave of resurgent epidemic continued, the schools could not faction in the next academic year right from March 2021 as well!

As there has been a perceptible reduction in the pandemic especially over the last few weeks, several states all over the country announced the reopening of schools and reopening them gradually.

As such, the State Government of Tamil Nadu also announced the reopening of schools from 1st September for the students of the 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th Standards. Accordingly, the schools reopened strictly adhering to the guidelines ordered by the State Government candy classes were conducted for the students of the 10th & 12th (+2) Standards.

As such, 80% of the students attended school from 1st September. It is gathered that only 3 or 4 students abstained in each class.

On 2nd September, classes reamed for the students of the 9th Standard and 11th Standard (+1) as well! It is informed that about 70% of students attended the schools.

As regards the private schools, the Private Schools’ Federation has informed that 85% of students attended the classes.

In the Government and Government-aided higher secondary schools in the Chennai District, 65% of the students attended schools!
