Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has informed that the stagnant rainwater in 750 locations all over the Chennai Metro City has been completely removed.
With the northeast monsoon rainy season in progress, there has been widespread continuous rain throughout the State of Tamil Nadu It has rained heavily especially in Chennai Metro City and with rainwater flooding and entering the residential localities, the residents have been put to great hardships!
The rain has abated somewhat in the last few days, and the citizens are gradually returning to their normal life-routines!
In this scenario, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has informed that 579 trees have been uprooted and fell of in different locations throughout Chennai Metro City from 25th October to 14th November and they have all been removed.
Apart from this, stagnant rainwater in 750 locations out of the 778 wards under the jurisdiction of Greater Chennai Corporation has been completely removed!
.This task of removing stagnant rainwater in the remaining locations is in full swing.
Further, the stagnant rainwater which entered the 22 subways in Chennai Metro City has also been removed completely and all these subways have been rendered back in service for the public!
GCC has also released a report on the prevailing situation on the present traffic movement (subsequent to the recent heavy widespread rains) .
As per the traffic changes carried out due to the stagnant rainwater all over Chennai Metro City, GCC employees are on the task of removing the stagnant water in the Bazullah Road, T Nagar area. Because of this, the vehicles proceeding to GST Road are diverted to reach GST Road via Habibullah Road, T Nagar.
