The schools have been conducting direct physical classes for the students in Tamil Nadu as the second Coronavirus wave has been brought under control.
On Thursday, as many as 33 Omicron variant cases were reported in TN and the threat due to this new variant has been looming large now. It is surprising to mention that conducting physical classes for the school students on a rotational basis might be extended. The main purpose was to ensure safety for the students and teachers etc.
It must be taken into account that the school education department is keen about schools functioning continuously for the students belonging to classes 1 to 12 without any break.
The students have already lost the active learning and social life for the last one and half years due to prolonged lockdowns to control Coronavirus pandemic. This was according to a senior officer belonging to the school education department. He was of the view that conducting direct physical classes for the students was very important. It is learnt that the schools would function with careful monitoring with additional precautionary measures that would be followed compulsorily.
To discuss the current pandemic situation, both the high level officials of the education and health departments would take part in a review meeting. A decision would be taken in the meeting to whether to continue direct physical classes on the rotational basis.
To improve the standard operating procedures or SOP at the schools, TN has allotted an amount of Rs 11r crores. The parents of the school students have been communicated to ensure that their kids have received vaccination. The parents have been asked to keep the institution informed whenever the school children go to other states for Christmas and New Year. All students belonging to the government and government aided schools in Tamil Nadu would receive zinc and vitamin tablets.
