The Central Government Department of Health has advised that the present regulations should be intensified further as the extent of corona impact has been increasing in Chennai Metro City.
In a letter from the Secretary of the Central Government Health Department Rajesh Bhushan to the Tamil Nadu State Government Secretary for health, J, Radhakrishnan, it is mentioned:
The restrictions on the corona preventive measures in the State of Tamil Nadu have to be further intensified! The impact of the coronavirus spread has suddenly shot up in Chennai Metro City. Immediate action has to be initiated to check/prevent this increase!
There has been a rapid increase in the Corona-affected cases in Chennai Metro City over the last 2 weeks!
As such, the present regulations need to be more intensified immediately!
Please note that it has to be ensured that the stage of deaths due to infection SHOULD NEVER BE REACHED!
RT-PCR TESTS FOR THE CITIZENS WITH SYMPTOMS HAVE TO BE INCREASED.
The number of Containment Zones has to be increased and announced as such.
The infrastructure of the treatment centres and hospitals has to be strengthened further immediately!”
Apart from the letter to Tamil Nadu State Government, the Central Health Secretary has also written to the States of Haryana, Delhi, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Jharkhand.
