The officials of the Public Works Department have undertaken the task of collecting the data of all illegally occupied/owned waterbodies in the State of Tamil Nadu.
In this situation, the Head of the Department of Registration Sivan Arul has sent a circular to all the registrars.
In this circular, it is mentioned:
“The State Government of Tamil Nadu has undertaken various initiatives to prevent the illegal occupation of all water bodies in the state. In this regard, the Department of Registration has issued an Order that NO REGISTRATION CAN BE UNDERTAKEN ON ANY SITES/PLOTS WHICH ARE CATEGORISED AS WATERBODIES.
As such, it is MANDATORY to give proof or Declaration that the concerned site is not under the land classified as a water body.
SO, IN LIGHT OF THE ABOVE, PLEASE TAKE PROPER NOTE OF THIS WHILE PROCEEDING TO BUY OR SELL A PLOT OR SITE.”
