Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), A state Government of Tamil Nadu Enterprise, undertakes the responsibility of selecting the candidates for the various vacant posts in different departments of the Tamil Nadu State government. It categorizes the vacancies, conducts different groups of written examinations, conducts interviews and completes the selection process.
The Examinations, depending on the vacancies are conducted as Group-1, Group-2, Group-2A, Group-4, VAO (Village Administration Officer) and Group5, 6, 7, and 8.
No written examinations were conducted by TNPSC last year due to the raging coronavirus waves. As such, there was a huge expectation as to when this year’s examinations will be conducted and dates will be announced.
In this scenario, the Chairman of the TNPSC, Balachandran, released an announcement on this on 18th February. As per this, he informed that Group-2 examinations for 116 vacancies and Group-2A examinations for 5412 vacancies are to be conducted on 21st May.
He further informed that the candidates may apply from today (Wednesday, 23rd February). As such, the notification has been released by TNPSC.
As per this notification, the special section officers’ posts have been included in the Group-2 category.
Further, as these examinations had not been conducted over the last 2 years, it is notified that the upper age limit has been increased up to 32 years.
The last date for applying is 23rd March and the applications may be submitted from today (Wednesday, 23rd February) at the official website of TNPSC - www.tnpsc.gov.in OR www.tnpscexams.in.
The results of the Preliminary examinations will be announced in June and the Main Examinations are scheduled to be conducted in September.
It is further informed that the interview for the candidates successful in the examinations which have no interview sessions, counselling will be conducted in December-January.
For the candidates who prefer to write the examinations in Tamil, the question paper will be for 300 marks – 100 questions in Tamil, 25 questions in Aptitude Test, and 75 questions in General knowledge - a total of 200 questions will be asked.
For the candidates who have preferred English, 100 questions will be asked in English. Only those who score ABOVE 90 OUT OF THESE 100 WILL BE DECLARED AS SUCCESSFUL!
