Let us know the full details of the traffic changes implemented in Mount Poonamallee-Avadi Highway!
As construction activities of Chennai Metro Rail – Phase 2 for the section Chennai Mount Poonamallee- Avadi Highway – from the Porur Lake Lord Siva Temple Junction to Gumananchavadi, a temporary traffic change is set to be implemented on a trial basis on the dates 26th February (today) and 27th February (tomorrow) from night 10.00 PM to the next morning 5.00 AM.
Once the trial change is found satisfactory, this traffic change will be extended for another 2 months.
The details of the temporary traffic for the above-mentioned construction work of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase-2 is as given below:
- On the Chennai Mount Poonamallee-Avadi Highway(SH55), from the Chennai Bypass Junction (near Porur Lake Lord Sivan Temple) to Gumananchavadi Junction, Light vehicles (car, jeep, auto, and motorcycles/scooters) are allowed to operate and an alternative route has been arranged for all other heavy vehicles (van, truck, bus, and commercial vehicles). Ambulances are given exemption from this diversion and are allowed to go as at present!
- Heavy vehicles and other commercial vehicles proceeding from Porur on the Mount Poonamallee-Avadi Road, have to take a MANDATORY RIGHT TURN on this road and go via Maduravoyal Tollgate Bypass Junction, Poonamallee High Road, Vaanagaram, Velappanchavadi, ACS Medical College, Saveetha Dental Hospital and then turn left to proceed via Gumananchavadi.
- The heavy vehicles and commercial vehicles driving towards Porur from Chennai Poonamallee, Mangadu, Saveetha Dental College sections, have to turn at the Gumananchavadi Junction towards Poonamallee High Road and drive via Saveetha Dental College, ACS Medical College, Velappanchavadi, Vaanagaram to the Maduravoyal Bypass Road and turn left near the tollgate and to move towards Porur via Samayapuram.
- The public is appealed to extend whole-hearted cooperation and help the project work to be completed at the earliest!
