On the Kamarajar Salai in K.K. Nagar in Chennai, frequent bursting of sewage pipelines has been occurring and this has made many students studying in a school present on the stretch to walk long distances. It must be taken into account that MTC has diverted the buses here. There have been many incidents of sewage network repairs and due to this MTC buses from the bus terminus at K.K. Nagar has not been plying here since the month of November in 2021.

There are 3 schools plus a teachers training college located on the Kamarajar Salai and thousands of students studying in these educational institutions were forced to walk atleast 1 to 1.5km from the bus stop to their institutions. This was mentioned by an advocate residing in K.K. Nagar. Point to be noted is that in September-October 2021, the sewage pipeline burst at Velankanni HSS and another burst took place 200m from the school.

The advocate then spoke about how in the month of November a pipeline was damaged near the Church at Kamarajar Salai and how till now the road that was dug to carry out pipeline work was not closed. Near Rehnuma Hospital, the road has been dug again by the metro water department now.

It is noteworthy that if the MTC buses were diverted to Bobbli Raja Salai or Jeevanandham Salai then the students would be able to avoid walking long distances. It was later mentioned by Mr. Ravi, CPM area secretary of Virugambakkam, that the metro water department must provide a permanent solution to the drainage issue in K.K. Nagar.a
