A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been entered into by the Ennore Port Limited (EPL) and Nissan Motors India Private Limited (NMIPL). The MoU is technically a renewal from the previous MoU whose validity of three years expired recently.

According to the agreement, NMIPL will get free parking at the port for the first 15 days, concessions on wharfage and priority handling of automobiles at the port.

‘EPL had developed a general cargo-cum-terminal on 35 acres, at a cost of Rs.140 crore, facilitating parking of 10,000 cars and this was the biggest car-parking yard amongst the major ports’, said Mr. M.A. Bhaskarachar, Chairman cum Managing Director of EPL. ‘NMIPL was targeting to increase its market share from 1.2 per cent to 10 per cent. Besides, Nissan would continue to explore opportunities for widening the export base for India-built cars’, said Mr. Kenichiro Yomura, CEO and Managing Director of NMIPL.
