Not always the chest pain we get is due to heart attack!!
These days, many people complain about chest pain often and they get tense due to this issue. Pain or discomfort in the chest is termed as chest pain. Chest pain is often associated with pain in the shoulders, arm, upper part of abdomen, jaw with nausea, sweats and breath issues etc. Two types of chest pain in us are heart related chest pain and non-heart related chest pain. It is possible to manage chest pain if the underlying reason for the chest pain is identified. Initially, a person with chest pain is given medicines like aspirin and nitroglycerin etc. Normally, a person would get chest pain due to heart attack. There are also possibilities other than heart attack that could create chest pain.
These are the various other reasons for the chest pain in us
Acid reflux:
When the contents of the stomach go back to the oesophagus then we get acid reflux or GERD. The tube that connects the stomach and throat is the oesophagus. This acid reflux could result in chest pain in some persons.
Muscle strain:
Non-cardiac chest pain could be due to strained chest muscle or due to inflammation of tendons present around the ribs etc. It is believed that the worsening of pain while doing an activity is a symptom of muscle strain.
Costochondritis:
When there is an inflammation in the cartilage that connects ribs to the breastbone then a person could get chest pain. It must be noted that costochondritis in a person would go away on its own in a few days or weeks.
Asthma:
A respiratory condition that is marked by spasm attacks in the bronchi present in the lungs is asthma. Various symptoms of asthma are shortness of breath, chest pain, wheezing when exhaling, trouble in sleeping due to shortness of breath etc.
Pericarditis:
Not many know that pericarditis can also result in severe chest pain in us. In certain persons severe viral infection might lead to inflammation of the sac that is present around the heart leading to chest pain.
Panic attacks:
It must be taken into account that when a person experiences a panic attack then he or she would have chest pain along with other symptoms like dizziness, sweating, rapid heart beat etc.
Pancreatitis:
Just behind the stomach is present pancreas and complication of pancreas or pancreatitis can also lead to chest pain in some persons. Here, there would be sudden inflammationon of the pancreas.
Pneumonia:
When a person has pneumonia, then he or she would experience stabbing pain in the chest. Pneumonia can be due to infection (both bacterial and viral) or due to inflammation of sacs in the lungs. Other symptoms include fatigue, cough with phlegm, fever, sweating etc.
