Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC): Budget presentation on 9th April

The Mayor of Chennai Metro City, Priya, is all set to present the budget of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on 9th April.
As there were no Mayor or Deputy Mayor since the year 2016, the budget prepared by higher officials was uploaded and released on the internet!
After 6 years gap, Urban Local Body Elections were conducted this year and councillors have been elected now.
As such, in an indirect election process, Priya of DMK was elected as the Chennai Metro City Mayor and Manojkumar, as Deputy Mayor.
With the Mayor and Deputy Mayor available now after a gap of 6 years, Greater Chennai Corporation Budget will be presented by the Mayor this year.
As this would be the first budget presented by Mayor Priya, there are a lot of expectations on the fronts of the growth of GCC as well as new announcements for the Chennai Metro City Citizens.
GCC Budget is scheduled to be printed to the Council at 10.00 AM on 9th April.
It is expected that the budget presented would include new schemes, revenue enhancement resources, and more details on the ‘Singara Chennai’ project announced in the state budget.
Information is gathered that the focus would be on quality roads, rainwater drainage schemes, projects related to the Smart City Project, etc.
