Many of us eat beans, cold cuts, root vegetables etc in raw form directly. How many of us know that certain foods when consumed in raw form would be harmful for us.
These are some of the foods that we must never eat in the raw form to avoid getting health issues etc. The foods are
Hot dogs intake:
There are many who eat hotdogs for breakfast. It must be noted that hot dogs are grilled or steamed sausages that are served in the slit of partially sliced buns. There are some research studies that have shown that eating hot dogs in raw form would lead to digestive issues in us. Truth is that eating raw or packed hot dogs could result in Listeria, bacteria.
Potatoes intake:
It is known that potatoes are delicious and crunchy vegetables and they could be eaten in any form except raw or uncooked. Full of starch, intake of potatoes in raw form would make the digestion difficult and potatoes are resistant to the process of breakdown. This could lead to bloating and insulin sensitivity in us.
Apples intake:
Do not eat apples in raw form or as it is because the seeds present in apples contain chemicals that would get converted into cyanides. This could make digestion difficult. It is important to remove seeds before eating apples.
Red kidney beans or rajma intake:
It is said that by eating red kidney beans in raw form we could get discomfort and this could be due to the presence of a toxin named phytohemagglutinin and it could lead to bloating, discomfort etc. The kidney beans are rich in fibres, proteins and antioxidants and are good for our heart health. To avoid issues, kidney beans could be soaked in water overnight, washed and rinsed and cooked properly.
Yuca intake:
Highly rich in vitamins and minerals, yuca is a South American vegetable. It is advised not to eat yucca in raw form because it has chemicals that would turn into cyanide. By washing, peeling, rinsing and properly cooking yucca could be eaten by us.
Bitter almonds intake:
It is well known that eating almonds would be highly beneficial for us due to the presence of various ingredients in them. Point is that bitter almonds have prussic acid or hydrocyanic acid (hydrogen cyanide and water) in raw form and this is dangerous.
Eggs intake:
Do not eat eggs in raw form because of contamination from salmonella bacteria. It is advised to cook eggs to a temperature of 145 F. It is worthy to note that when eggs are mixed with other ingredients eggs must be cooked to 160 F.
Berries intake:
Eating berries could provide us with lots of benefits like fighting off cold and flu, calming irritated skin etc. Not many know that eating berries in raw form could be dangerous for the health. Berries must be boiled thoroughly.
Egg plant:
Used like a vegetable, eggplant is actually a fruit belonging to the family Solanaceae. The glycoalkaloid present in eggplant in raw form might not be good for health.
