The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the state of Tamil Nadu and the phenomenon of thermal convection, there are prospects for heavy rains in Tamil Nadu!
In a notification released by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Cenre, it is mentioned:
“There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder today (Thursday, 5th May) in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal. Further, during lightning and thunder, high-speed ground winds may blow at 30 to 40 kmph!
There are prospects for heavy rain in 1 or 2 places in Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Salem districts.
As regards tomorrow (Friday, 6th May), there are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikkal. There are prospects for heavy rain in 1 or 2 places in Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Thiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Trichy, Salem, Erode, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri districts.
As regards day-after-tomorrow (Friday, 7th May), there are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikkal.
There would be a maximum temperature above 2-3 Degrees c=Celsius on the average expected level in Tamil Nadu for the next 3 days.
As regards Chennai Metro City, the sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild rain in a few parts of the city. The maximum temperature will be 38 Degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 29 Degrees Celsius!”
