Sensational!! Poondi reservoir to have water sports, outdoor dining facilities at Island Grounds in Chennai plus others!!

In the future, don’t be surprised if you come across more getaway recreational spots across Tami Nadu!!

It is now said that the Tamil Nadu tourism department would take up many steps to develop tourist destinations and new getaway spots across the state in the coming year. In the state Assembly yesterday the tourism minister Mr. Mathivannan announced several developments.

People visiting Poondi reservoir and Kolavai Lake in Chengalpet would be surprised by the presence of water sports, boat rides etc there. There would be adventure based activities and bird watching decks too. The tourism minister then mentioned about the Annual Chennai Vizha that would showcase handicrafts, handlooms and food festivals at Rs 150 crores.

There would be an annual summer festival of flowers, fruits, vegetables and palm products in Chennai and Rs 25 lakhs would be spent on this. Maragatha Poonga in Mamallapuram would have a glow garden with lighting, amusements etc.

It is superb to note that the drive-in restaurant at the Island Grounds in Chennai would have outdoor dining facilities plus open air theatre and barbeque counter and cafeteria at Rs 50 lakhs.

There would be Tirupati tours from other cities also and Seegra Darshan tickets would be increased from 150 to 1000. At 4 important temples in TN, there would be sound and light shows with 3D laser mapping technology. Presence of aesthetic landscaping and tourist amenities would greet the visitors at Courtallam in Tenkasi district.

An amount of RS 7 crores would be spent for an additional boat jetty at Kanniyakumari. Tiruvarur district based Mauthupettai Mangrove forest area would have boating, walkways etc for Rs 4 crores.

It must be noted that the Muttam beach and Tirparappu falls in Kanniyakumari district would get modern amenities for Rs 6.6 crores. An amount of Rs 3 crores would be spent for facilities like water sports, boat rides etc at Pudukkottai district based Muttukoda beach.

Tiruppur district based Andipalayam Lake would have boating, water sports, viewing decks and amenities at Rs 1.50 crores.  For an amount of Rs 2.20 crores, Vathalmalai in the Dharmapuri district would have camping, bird watching plus other recreational facilities etc.
