New Overbridge Highway project from Chennai Airport to Madhuravoyal at a cost of Rs. 5855 Crores!

The contract agreement for the contraction project for the laying of a double-decker over-bridge highway between Chennai Port and Madhuravoyal was signed in presence of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin!

In a notification released in this regard by the Chief Minister’s Office, it is mentioned:

“The contract agreement between the State Government of Tamil Nadu and the India Highway Commission,  Chennai Port Administration, and Indian Navy for the contraction project for the laying of a double-decker over-bridge highway between Chennai Port and Madhuravoyal was signed in presence of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin today (Monday, 16th May)!

As per this project, the Central Ministry of Road Transport will construct the above double over-bridge through the Highway Commission from Chennai Port to Madhuravoyal covering a distance of 20.565 km at a cost of Rs. 5855 Crores.

In this 2-tier over-bridge, it is designed that the local vehicles only will operate on none tier between Chennai Port to Koyambeduwith ramps at 13 places provided across the bridge for the vehicle to enter or go down from the bridge.

On the 2nd tier of the over-bridge, it is designed for the vehicles from Chennai Port to Madhuravoyal in both directions for a 2-way traffic facility.

Due to the long and persistent efforts of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, the project which was continuously being shelved for various reasons, this project has now been consummated with the inaugural event of the signing of a contract by Tamil Nadu State Government, Indian Highway Commission, Chennai Port Administration, and Indian Navy!

In this function, the Central Joint Minister for Road Transport and Highways V. K. Singh, the Tamil Nadu State Minister for Public Works, Highways and small ports, A. V. Velu, Tamil Nadu Government Chief Secretary V. Iraianbu participated."
