Prospects for rain today (Tuesday, 17th May) in 16 districts in Tamil Nadu!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed us that there are prospects for heavy rains today (Tuesday, 17th May) in 16 districts due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

As such, there are prospects for heavy rain in the districts of Thenkasi, Dindigul, Theni, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Nilgiri, Erode, and in some areas in Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thiruppathur, and Kallakkurichi, and in 1 or 2 places Karur, Trichy, and Thiruvannamalai.

It is further announced that there are prospects for mild to medium widespread rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

As regards the Chennai Metro City, the sky will be partly cloudy in the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild to medium rain in some parts of the city.

As high-speed cyclonic winds will be blowing across the Lakhdivs, Karnataka, Kerala and the adjacent southeast Arabian Sea, and Bay of Mannar, and the southwest Bay of Bengal, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into these areas on 19th May.

In the above situation, southwest monsoon seasonal rains started in the Andaman Ocean Area. As already estimated, the southwest monsoon seasonal rains have commenced a week ahead. In a similar way, it is estimated that the monsoon seasonal rains will commence in Kerala 4 days earlier on 27th May!
