It is well known that GCC has intensified its action against encroachments on the Chennai roads and it has formed zonal teams for conducting eviction. Now, the Chennai police had requested GCC to remove encroachments on a road at Anna Nagar.
Inspector of police of Anna Nagar traffic police station has written a letter to Anna Nagar zonal officer and it was mentioned in the letter that many complaints have been received from the public regarding illegal parking of vehicles and encroachments on the road by shops on the second main road behind the government hospital in Anna Nagar. The encroachments have affected the traffic movements in Anna Nagar now. In the letter, it was also pointed out that Chennai Corporation must take the necessary steps to remove encroached shops plus prevent illegal parking of vehicles on the roads.
It was mentioned by an officer belonging to GCC that action would be taken to remove the encroachments plus illegal parking of vehicles on the road would also be banned. In the last 2 weeks in Chennai, the zonal teams have removed 528 encroachments. In coordination with the police department, zonal teams have been formed in Chennai and the teams have police personnel also.
