Ramapuram in south Chennai is now making news for the wrong reasons!!
Here, the roads have become so bad that not only the motorists have been finding it tough to drive but the pedestrians also have been finding it difficult to walk. The SWD as well as metro water has already damaged the roads in this locality and whenever there are rains even for a short period of time then negotiating the roads here is very challenging.
According to a resident from Ramapuram, Shankar Nagar Main Road and areas such as Giri Nagar opposite to DLF do not have roads and are covered with mud. He added that Storm Water Drain or SWD works have been over 2 years back and metro water works have been going on here for more than 6 months now.
He threw light on how pits of storm water drain work have been choked completely and how the metro water department has dug up the roads. Bitter truth is that even ambulances have been finding it difficult to negotiate the roads here.
It was highlighted by an IT employee that during rains many employees slip and fall down. She added that finding autos during an emergency situation was impossible because the auto drivers have been reluctant to come to the locality.
The school children also find it difficult here as the roads are in bad conditions and the parents of these school going kids are in constant fear. Parents were of the view that there was no proper planning in carrying out the works on the roads. In the locality, metro water has been carrying both sewage as well as water supply pipeline work. As soon as the works got completed then laying of the roads work would start and this was as per a councillor of ward 154.
