Recently, 19th convocation took place at the Chennai Mathematical Institute or CMI.
At the convocation, the principal scientific advisor for the GOI Mr. Ajay Sood conferred degrees on as many as 8 PhD students, 72 PG students and 57 UG students. Rank holders and meritorious students were given Gold medals for academic excellence.
Various activities of CMI were highlighted by Mr. Madhavan Mukund, director of CMI. He added that CMI was committed to excellence in research and teaching. It is worthy to mention here that the research output from the core faculty across subjects like maths, statistics, physics, computer science and data science continue to be high. This was measured from the number of citations.
Recently a MoU was signed between CMI and TNeGA and it is now revealed that this MoU to enable the agency to make strategic date driven decisions has been progressing well. This was brought to light by the director of CMI.
For hosting thematic research programmes with Banff International Research Station or BIRS in Canada, CMI entered into an international partnership. The convocation was totally different for Mr, Ajay Sood as he did not give any experiential advice to the students. He was applauded for his technical talk.
