Work started for laying underground metro train line below the Adyar River in Chennai!!

It is well known that in Chennai under metro phase-2 metro rail line and metro stations are being constructed at a cost of Rs 63200 crores. This would cover a distance of 118.9km. In the city, already metro trains are being operated for 55km and many people use metro trains to reach their destinations.

Information collected is that construction of twin tunnels would be laid for 400m at a depth of 29m between the Greenways Road metro station and Adyar Junction metro station. In one or two places, soil survey work using machines on floating boats in the middle of the river would be started.  Drilling machine would be taken inside for drilling the river bed and samples would be collected for soil survey work.

It is mentioned that for every 25m to 50m at a depth of 1m to 18m soil testing would be carried out It is now expected that the collection and analysis of the samples would get completed in 3 to 4 months.
