The corridors of the famous Sabarimalai Temple of Lord Ayyappan will be open on Wednesday (3rd August) at 5.00 PM for Nirai Putharisi Poojai`.
The festival/occasion of `Nirai Putharisi Poojai` signifies the Special Poojai and Prayers performed with the first harvest of crops of rice grown on the fields owned by the Temple Dewaswom Board in Chettikkul
This Nirai Putharisi Poojai is scheduled to be performed at the Sabarimalai Temple of Lord Sri Ayyappan on Thursday, 4th August at 5.00 AM. The harvested rice crop is brought in a procession on 3rd August (Wednesday) and is carried to the Sannidhanam of the temple. It will be taken to the temple Sanctum Sanctorum early morning on the 4th of August and Poojai performed. After this, Thanthri Magesh Mohanaru and Melsanthi Parameswaran Namboodri will distribute the crop bunches to the devotees as the Lord`s offering (Prasadam)!
The same Nirai Putharisi Poojai will be performed at the Chennai Mahalingapuram Sri Ayyappan- Sri Guruvayurappan Temple also! The Melsanthis of the temple Krishnan Namboodri and Lakshmanan Pattadhri will lead the procession carrying the harvested crop along with the Santhis of the Praharas.
The Manager of the Chennai Mahalingapuram Lord Sri Ayyappan- Lord Guruvayurappan temple, Anishkumar has informed us that the crop bunches will be offered as Prasadam to the devotees after the completion of the Nirai Putharisi Poojai!
