Deadline for I T returns extended

The deadline for filing income tax returns for the assessment year 2013-14 was extended till August 5.For the last three days, salaried tax payers have been going through a harrowing time in accessing the e-filing portal of Income Tax Department due to network constraints.
While the Union Finance Ministry on Tuesday maintained that the e-portal was running without any interruption and was continuously being monitored by a dedicated team of officials in Bangalore, it changed its version on Wednesday.
