The Chess Olympiad that has been going on in Chennai has been fabulous. Now, the time has come for the closing ceremony.
On Tuesday, 9th August 2022, the traffic police announced traffic diversions near Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Chennai. There will be a closing ceremony that will be taking place at this stadium for the 44th Chess Olympiad today from 3pm onwards.
The traffic police have requested the Chennai residents intending to go to the Central railway station to plan their travel ahead as the traffic movement would be very slow.
The closing ceremony would be amazing and it would have important personalities like the chief minister of TN, various ministers and famous chess players across the world. Traffic police have made elaborate traffic arrangements.
As per the official release from the Chennai police department, there would be slow movement of vehicles on the roads at EVR Periyar Salai, Central Square, Anna Salai, Raja Muthiah Salai and areas in and around Jawaharlal Nehru indoor stadium.
It is worthy to mention here that vehicles from Pulianthope going towards Periamet would be diverted at Choolai Roundtana towards Choolai High Road. In the same manner, vehicles coming from Hunters Road via EVK Sampath Road towards Vepery High Road would be diverted at Jeremiah Road Junction towards Doveton.
Beyond Gengureddy road, Nair Road, Gandhi Irwin Road, commercial vehicles intending to proceed towards Central would not be allowed. Commercial vehicles from Parry`s would be able to reach Vyasarpadi flyover and then would reach their destinations by passing through Kuralagam Junction, Mint Street, Walltax Road and Moolakothalam.
