Whats interesting about this association between Leeds University and Chennai based dental college??

University of Leeds in the United Kingdom is one of the top universities offering excellent higher education for the students. Now, this university has joined hands with Chennai based Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital or SBDCH.
The main objective behind this association was for research collaborations, launching of new programmes for UG as well as PG students, online teaching and student/faculty exchange etc.
It is a well known fact that SBDCH is a premier institution offering dental education and dental care in India and is a part of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research or BIHER.
It is noteworthy that BIHER and University of Leeds have completed a 2 year collaborative research programme in evaluating the extent of antibiotic misuse in dentistry in India. They have jointly developed various strategies to eradicate it. This important programme was headed by Dr. Aarathi Bhuvaragan , associate professor, Oral Medicine and Radiology, SBDCH and Dr. Vishal Agarwal of University of Leeds.
Not only SBDCH has signed agreements with the University of Leeds but others like Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital or SBMCH as well as Sree Balaji College of Nursing or SBCN would also be signing agreements with the foreign university in many research and academic areas.
It was brought out by Dr. Gunasekaran that the association with the University of Leeds would be tremendous and it would come out with new opportunities for joint research and education. He hinted that both strengths as well as expertise of both institutions would be utilised to help the society.
