Sixth Avenue of Elliot`s Breach in Chennai would become very busy on Sundays!!
Also known as Edward Elliot`s Beach, this beach in Besant Nagar is an important place for relaxation in Chennai.
Beginning from 4th of September 2022, there will be Car Free Sundays at Elliot`s Beach in Chennai. For 8 weeks this event would be held every Sunday from 6am to 9am. This event would be organised by The Hindu in association with the Greater Chennai Traffic Police or GCTP.
The main objective behind this event was to encourage the citizens to step out of their houses. The event would also have various entertainment and fitness programmes like yoga, Zumba dance, painting station for kids, obstacle courses, caricature sketching, live band performances and storytelling etc.
There would be a mobile library that would be put up in the event and the amazing piece of information is that the chief minister of TN Mr. Stalin has donated some of his books to be kept in the library. It is worthy to mention that G Square Group would be the title sponsor for the event.
Traffic police have come out with diversion in and around Elliot`s Beach on Sunday now. All vehicles coming from the 7th Avenue and going towards 6th Avenue would be diverted along the 16th Cross Street towards 2nd Avenue to reach their destination.
In the same way, vehicles coming from the 16th Cross Avenue and going towards 6th Avenue would be diverted at the junction of 2nd Avenue and 16th Cross Street. It is noteworthy that the vehicles coming from the 3rd Main Road and going towards 6th Avenue would be diverted at the junction of 3rd Main Road and 2nd Avenue. There would be diversion of vehicles coming from 4th Main Road and 5th Avenue and going towards 6th Avenue towards 4th Main Road and 5th Avenue.
