The meteorological department has made it clear that for the next 3 days there would be heavy to very heavy rains in several districts in Tamil Nadu.
It was mentioned in a press release from the director of the RMC in Chennai Mr. P. Senthamarai Kannan that today 6th September 5and tomorrow 7th September there would be light to moderate rains with thunder and lightning in most places belonging to TN and Puducherry and at few places on 8th September and 9th September. This would be due to upper level air circulation over parts in Tamil Nadu.
There would be heavy to very heavy rains in one or two places of various districts in TN like Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Coimbatore plus in other districts like Erode, Tirupur, Theni, Kanniyakumari, Dindigul, Madurai, Karur, Trichy, Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thirupathur, Vellore, Ranipret, Thiruvannamalai and Kallakurichi etc
On 8th September, there would be chances of rain in one or two places in the districts like Erode, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thirupathur, Vellore, Ramipet and Thiruvannamalai etc.
In Chennai, for the next 2 days, the sky would be cloudy and there would be moderate rains with lightning and thunder in some localities. Arimalam in Pudukottai district in TN received maximum rains of 10cms in the 24 hours that ended at 8am yesterday. There was 9cm rain at Komarapalayam belonging to the Namakkal district and 8cm rain in Andipatti of Madurai district etc. The fishermen have been given warning as there would be winds of speeds 40 to 50 kmph today and tomorrow.
