With the recent heavy widespread downpour throughout Tamil Nadu in the last few days, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in 17 districts today (Wednesday, 7th September),
In a notification released in this regard by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, it is mentioned:
"There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in several places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over North Tamil Nadu areas.
Today (Wednesday, 7th September), there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Dindigul, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Kallakkurichi, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Ranippettai, Thirupathur, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Pudhhcuhery.
As regards Chennai Metro City, the sky will remain somewhat cloudy in the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the city. The maximum temperature will be 33-34 Degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 27 Degrees Celsius.
As regards the maximum rainfall recorded in cm in the last 24 hours, Villupuram, Mundiyambakkam, Kedhar - 9 each and Aranthangi, Natrampalli, Koliyanur, Cuddalore – 7 each."
