Important warning issued by the Chennai doctors now regarding rabies?

Rabies is a deadly disease caused by the bite of dogs and many deaths due to Rabies are getting reported in the state of Tamil Nadu now.
There has been a delay in admitting the patients in the hospitals in TN to get treated for Rabies and this has been causing many deaths.
In 2021 and in 2022, the admission records of RGGGH and ICH in Chennai has shown that most patients have been admitted to the hospitals 2 weeks or 3 months after the dog bites.
The shocking information is that these patients ignored the vaccinations and showed symptoms and then only were tested for Rabies. Within a week of admission to the hospitals, the Rabies infected patients died. It must be noted that Rabies caused due to a virus and getting transmitted from dog to humans through saliva of the dog has got one of the highest mortality rates.
The experts from the department of public health have mentioned that these deaths could be avoided. It is noteworthy that the vaccines taken soon after the dog bite could be highly successful in preventing the deaths due to Rabies.
Chennai doctors have warned about the time delay in getting vaccination after the dog bite and have asked the public to approach the hospitals quickly to get the treatment.
